The BBC recently reported that eight police officers serving on the largest police force in Scotland have their official religion as "Jedi" in official diversity forms. Strathclyde Police have verified that indeed eight of its officers and two civilian employees claim to be adherents of the Jedi religion.
The BBC piece also stated,
"About 390,000 people listed their religion as Jedi in the 2001 Census for England and Wales. In Scotland the figure was a reported 14,000.
The Office for National Statistics did not recognise it as a separate category, and incorporated followers of Jedi with atheists.
Last year, brothers Barney and Daniel Jones founded the UK Church of the Jedi - which offered sermons on the Force, light sabre training, and meditation techniques."
According to the Jedi Church's website, the church believes: "There is one all powerful force that binds the entire universe together. It is 'an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together'. This is a concept that most religions of the world concur with. Some refer to it as their deity, some refer to it as a life force, but the one thing nearly all religions agree with, is that there exists a single unifying force."
